Advance Care Planning Part 2
Program volunteers will help review your document to ensure it is written correctly. There will also be a Notary Public present to assist with the legalization of the document. This service is presented at NO COST and will be carried out by appointment.
Advance Care Planning Part 1
You will learn about what Advance Care Planning is, its importance, and how it can help us in the future. A detailed review of the MyCare document will be provided and we will discuss how to choose your healthcare representative, with time for questions.

Amy Marie Orozco was recognized as Association of Women in Communication, Santa Barbara Chapter Member of the Year in 2021. A writer and editor by trade, her work appears in national magazines and online formats. She offers editorial, digital, marketing, and creative services to a variety of clients including print and online publications, social media influencers, government agencies, entrepreneurs, nonprofits, and public relations firms. Amy also volunteers her publicity/media relations expertise to Catalyst for Cats and sits on the board of trustees of the Carpinteria Valley Historical Society.

Bio: Emily Duncan
Emily Duncan is a native of Santa Barbara, California. She attended Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo where she graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Experience Industry Management. Emily then moved on to the University of San Diego where she received a Master of Arts in Leadership Studies. As a nonprofit and museum professional, Emily has worked at leading organizations including the Catalina Island Chamber of Commerce & Visitors Bureau, San Diego Natural History Museum, and USS Midway Museum. Upon moving back to Santa Barbara with her fiancé, Matthew, Emily accepted a position as the Executive Director of the Chrisman California Islands Center, a new educational research center in Carpinteria. With CCIC officially open, Emily is thrilled to welcome guests into the Center!

An Evening with Wendy Robins
The Carpinteria Woman's Club is excited to invite you to an evening with Carpinteria Community Garden Manager Wendy Robins on Wednesday, May 10th at 7 pm.
Wendy has been a garden educator for 15 years, with most of her work being focused on public schools. For nearly two years, she has been serving as the coordinator at the Carpinteria Community Garden. On top of that, Wendy is also the garden educator at Crane Country Day School.
She will be sharing the latest updates from the garden, what classes will be offered in the future, and will also talk about how she has taken her love of food, flowers, and growing things and turned it into a career where she can share it with others.

Carpinteria Woman's Club Hosts Jody Thomas and Dr. Amber Kaplan
The Carpinteria Woman's Club is excited to announce the return of Jody Thomas, City Librarian for the Carp Public Library. Jody will be joining us in a community meeting to provide an update on all the exciting things happening at our beloved library - the place we turn to for inspiration, learning and relaxation.
But that's not all! We are delighted to have Dr. Amber Kaplan, Carp Community Library Advisory Commissioner, on hand to facilitate input on what the community wants from their new library.
As a community, we are encouraged to start thinking about our responses to the Carpinteria Library Assessment Preliminary Questions. These are some of the questions we should keep in mind:
What has been our experience/our organization’s experience in interacting with the community library?
What role do we see the library playing in the community that our organization helps serve?
Is there anything else we would like to share?

The Women’s Woven Voices Project
The Women’s Woven Voices project is an international, collaborative fiber art project that supports women in claiming their powerful voice through writing, weaving, and sharing their stories. Founder, Brecia Kralovic-Logan, will share the inspiration for, and development of the project. She will share stories from the journey to create the almost 200’ long tapestry that includes over 1,000 woven “Story Cloths” from participants from 10 different countries.

Brecia Kralovic-Logan is a creativity cultivator, champion for women’s voices, and nationally recognized fiber artist. She is the founder of the International Women’s Festival Pacific Northwest, and a regional ambassador for the Art Project for Peace. Kralovic-Logan is the author of “The Spiral of Creativity- Mastering the Art of a Spirited Life.” She teaches and speaks at international art conferences. Her artwork has been exhibited nationally and is in the collections of museums and private collectors. Currently she promotes creativity, community, and compassion through the Women’s Woven Voices project- an international, collaborative, fiber art project that promotes women’s empowerment through writing, weaving, and sharing their stories. The Starfish Connection is a new Santa Barbara-based nonprofit whose mission is to partner with local nonprofit organizations and identify people in need of a little extra help. They provide gap grants to those with emergent needs that fall outside the services typically available. The digital portal for this organization, known as Our Story, is an online community of Storytellers open to all. Our Story believes that through storytelling people can build community, claim their truth, self-heal, and write their life experiences in their own words. In this way each Storyteller is seen, heard, and honored.
